scheme)
A standard for recording the relationship between a plant
and a place

General principles:
- the taxon should be known and taxonomically distinct (normally,
this standard will be used for species, but it can be applied at any taxonomic
level)
- the area must be defined (have definite boundaries), but it can
be of any size
There are 7 fields:
1. Occurrence

- assumed present
- doubt about presence
- extinct
- recorded as present in error
- absent
- no information
2. Native Status
- native
- assumed to be native
- doubtfully native
- formerly native (extinct)
- not native
- recorded as native in error
- no information
- none of the above
- not applicable
3. Introduced Status
- introduced
- assumed to be introduced
- doubtfully introduced
- formerly introduced (extinct)
- not introduced
- recorded as introduced in error
- no information
- none of the above
- not applicable
4. Introduction Agency
- introduced by humans
- introduced by natural means
- no information
- not applicable
5. Cultivated Status
- cultivated outdoors
- cultivated indoors
- assumed to be cultivated
- doubtfully cultivated
- formerly cultivated (extinct)
- not cultivated
- recorded as cultivated in error
- no information
- none of the above

6. Area Distribution Completeness
