The data matching your search criteria is sorted in alphabetical order but within categories. Therefore, if you have entered multiple search criteria in a field, all the results matching the first criterion will be returned (in alphabetical order) before those of the second. This sorting means that where synonyms occur they may appear ahead of the accepted name in the list of taxa returned.
