Note: Current molecular evidence supports the separtion of the Araliaceae and Apiaceae as largely monophyletic groups, however, there are some intemediate taxa that still need resolution. Apiaceae subfamily Hydrocotyloideae is a non-monophyletic taxon some of whose members are better placed in the Araliaceae. Takhtajan's support of treating this taxon as a family in its own right is currently not widely accepted.
