Membership & Subscriptions

Annual subscriptions, due on application and on January 1st each year thereafter, are as follows:

Ordinary membership: £20.00 (£21.00 for credit card payments to cover costs)
Includes entitlement to Journal of Bryology and BBS Bulletin, as well as other services provided by the society.

Concessionary subscription: £10.00 (£10.50 for credit card payments to cover costs)
A concessionary subscription, providing all the entitlements of Ordinary Membership, available to Senior Members (Ordinary Members who have been members of the Society for 40 years or more), Junior Members (Members who are under the age of 21) and Student Members (Members who are full-time students, irrespective of age)

Family membership: £1.00
For any of the family who resides with an Ordinary or Junior member. Family members do not receive the Journal of Bryology but have all other rights and privileges of membership.

Methods of payment

• Print out an application form (for new members) and post with your payment by £ Sterling cheque to the Membership Secretary (address below), from whom you can also obtain Standing Order mandate forms.
• Apply for membership and pay/renew your subscription securely online with a credit card via Paypal (a Paypal account is not required)
• We strongly encourage people who wish to pay by credit card to use the Paypal option, as this simplifies the payment process and reduces the work involved for everyone. It is, however, still possible to complete a credit card application online form which will be emailed directly to the Membership Secretary through an unsecured link which carries the risk of your credit card details being intercepted.

Help the BBS with Gift Aid

• If you live in the UK and pay tax on the income used to pay your subscription, please also complete and submit the gift aid declaration, to allow us to reclaim the tax on your subscription.
• If you are a professional bryologist etc. and claim your BBS subscription as an allowable expense against your income for income tax purposes, please note that you have not paid tax on the income used to pay your subscription and you must not complete this form. Similarly, if your employer pays your subscription on your behalf you must not complete this form.
