Documentation

Documentation is a critical aspect of any database management application. Different users need different kinds of documentation, from simple user guides for first-time users to technical manuals for system administrators.

Users Manual The BG-BASE User's Manual is the major paper-based documentation for the system. This 592-page book serves both users and system administrators. For users, it explains all the features of the software and for administrators it provides technical documentation for configuring and maintaining the system. F1 key Help is available at virtually any point within BG-BASE by pressing the F1 key; this on-line help is extensive – if released as a single document (which it is not), it would occupy over 1,000 printed pages. Various portions of the on-line help system can be translated into languages other than English.
Parts of the BG-BASE User's Manual is avalable as online help. Help for data merges from BG-BASE to Microsoft Word and the S/LIST manual is also available online.
