Protologue description: The fragrant, large, crimson paeopy-shaped flowers float amist dark purpleish-green leaves that are often flecked with maroon. The stamens are deep orange tipped with bright yellow. It has characteristic, much-branched rootstock producing few eyes and is thought to be composed in varying degrees of N. alba var rubra N. candida and one of the N. laydekeri hybrids. (Depth 45-90cm)
