Personal Details Status: ProfessionalPersonal Profile Head of Africa and Madagasar Department, Missouri Botanical Garden, based at Laboratoire de Phanérogamie, Paris Alternative postal address: Associate Curator, Head of Africa and Madagascar Department Missouri Botanical Garden, P.O. Box 299 St. Louis, Missouri 63166-0299 USA Tel: (1) (314) 577 9453 Fax: (1) (314) 577 9596 My research interests are the systematics and evolution of Araliaceae in general. My dissertation work focused on the family in New Caledoina (with ca. 95 spp. in 8 genera, including several putatively primitive groups), and I am now completing a revision of the family for the Flore de la Nouvelle Calédonie. Other flora projects include treatments for the Flora of Australia (in part), the Flore de Madagascar et des Comores and, in collaboration with Xiang Qi-bai (NF), the Flora of China. Taxonomic revisions are nearing completion for several genera, including Reynoldsia and Gamblea (the latter with Xiang), and several new species are being described from the Pacific, the Comoro Islands and Madagascar. During the last several years I have collaborated with Alexei Oskolski (LE) on systematic studies of wood anatomy of Araliaceae, and have started working with Greg Plunkett (VCU) on phylogenetic and biogeographic analyses using combined molecular and morphological data.
