The Soqotran Archipelago is a chain of Islands located in the Indian Ocean close to southern Arabia at 54°E 12° 30'N. The archipelago is part of the Republic of Yemen. The seas around the islands are shallow and rich in fish.
There are four islands in the archipelago: Abd al Kuri, Samhah, Darsa and Soqotra. Soqotra is the largest island with a land area of approximately 3,500km². The other islands are a great deal smaller covering less than 400km².
