This website is under development INTRODUCTIONFerns are a large and conspicuous component of the plant diversity of Thailand with an estimated 670 species. This is about 5-7% of the total vascular flora of Thailand, and a significant proportion of the world's fern flora which is estimated to be between 9,000 and 12,000 species. The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, in collaboration with the Forest Herbarium Bangkok, Chulalongkorn University, and Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden, is currently developing a multi-access key to identify all of the ferns of Thailand. This key, and a comprehensive information system on Thai ferns, will eventually be made available at this site. The principal collaborators on this project are Stuart Lindsay and David Middleton of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, Somran Suddee of the Forest Herbarium Bangkok, Thaweesakdi Boonkerd and Rossarin Pollawatn of Chulalongkorn University, and Piyakaset Suksathan of the Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden. This work is being funded by The Leverhulme Trust.
